Diana Whitten’s rousing doc Vessel gets its Vancouver premiere at Langara College on Thursday (November 27).

An audience-award winner at this years SXSW Film Fest—highly significant given the recent attacks on abortion rights in Texas—Vessel tells the story of Dr. Rebecca Gomperts and the birth of Women on Waves and subsequently Women on Web.

The first enterprise shipped pregnant women into international waters in order to administer the abortion pill; the second expanded the practice to the Internet.
