One of the world’s biggest screen stars from an Asian celebrity family has recovered from COVID-19.

India’s Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her eight-year-old daughter, Aaradhya, were admitted to a hospital in Mumbai on July 17, one day after they tested positive for the coronavirus.

After 10 days, Rai Bachchan and her daughter were released after they both tested negative.

However, her husband, actor Abhishek Bachchan, and his father, the celebrated Amitabh Bachchan, who tested positive on July 11, remain in hospital in Mumbai.

Abhishek Bachchan sent out a message on social media to announce his wife and daughter's release from hospital and to thank fans for their prayers.

The Bachchan family members are among the most high-profile COVID-19 cases in India, as the country has been facing rapidly rising case numbers.

Following the U.S. and Brazil, India, with approximately 1.5 million reported cases, has had the third most reported cases in the world, and 33,400 reported deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University. On July 27, the South Asian nation reported over 44,500 new cases.
