The Vancouver International Film Festival has lured two extremely successful women in the music industry to speak at its 2021 VIFF AMP Music in Film Summit.

The event, now in its fifth year, promotes the integration of music and film through panel discussions, masterclasses, and networking opportunities.

This year's keynote speakers will be producer and songwriter Linda Perry and Emmy Award–winning composer Laura Karpman.

Perry has written hits for Pink ("Get the Party Started"), Christine Aguilera ("Beautiful"), and Gwen Stefani ("What You Waiting For?"), among others. She's a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Karpman has been nominated five times for Emmy Awards, winning in 2020 for writing music in the "Tools & Tactics" episode of the series Why We Hate

The AMP summit takes place online and in-person from October 8 to 10.

VIFF is also accepting applications until Sunday (August 8) for the the VIFF AMP Talent Accelerator.

A VIFF news release describes it as "a professional development program dedicated to providing 50 emerging musicians, composers, managers, and aspiring music supervisors free, low-barrier access to the VIFF AMP Music in Film Summit, plus exclusive mentorship and networking sessions for creators who are looking to explore or expand their career into music and film".
