VIFF 2012 review: The Shine of Day

(Austria)

This oddly structured story about a dedicated young actor and his long-lost bear-fighting uncle has more loose ends than a mildewed mop. Still, it is well made, and there’s something subversively refreshing about watching a movie so sublimely unconcerned with classical concepts of closure.
