      FRIDAY: Vancouver-based jazz band the Siobhan Walsh Group presents a tribute to Aretha Franklin at Frankie's Jazz.

      FRIDAY: local metal bands Nylithia, Terrifier, the Mountain Man, Evilosity, Obsidian, HALLUX, Unbeheld, the Waning Light, and PreciousDudes perform at the Rickshaw Theatre's Deathmas Festivus fundraiser for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.

      FRIDAY: Canadian jazz vocalists Jennifer Scott, Karin Plato, and Kate Hammett-Vaughan (We Three Queens) perform the second of two nights at West Van's Kay Meek Centre.

      FRIDAY: A Sumner Bros. Xmas XII at the WISE Hall features music by the Wild North, Dustin Bentall, C.R. Avery, Viper Central, Real Ponchos, Mike Shaver, Nick Colebrook, Connor Foote, Cody Larsen, Lukas Behrndt, and Matt Kelly's Steelin Xmas.

      SATURDAYKeithmas VIII tribute to Keith Richards at the Rickshaw features music by Pointed Sticks, Rich Hope and the Evil Doers, the Pack A.D., La Chinga, Elliot C. Way and the Wild North, Slip-Ons, the Knast, and the Bad Beats, with proceeds to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. SOLD OUT.

      SATURDAY: cross-genre project Dálava reflects Moravian folk songs through the lens of 21st century creative jazz, world, and post-rock styles at China Cloud.

      SATURDAY: Vancouver punk-rock band the Blackwood Renegades plays the Railway Stage and Beer Café, with guests Sly-Detrick, Precious Things, and Chase Your Words.

      SATURDAY: punk-rock bands Bishops Green and Alien Boys play a homecoming show at the WISE Hall, with guests Last Kaste and Red Circle.

      SATURDAY: local blues-rockers Rob Montgomery and friends play a Blues Brunch at the Railway Stage and Beer Café.

      SUNDAY: the South Van Big Band presents an evening of live big-band jazz at Cottage Bistro.

      SUNDAY: jazz singer-songwriter and vocalist Micah Barnes, formerly of the Nylons, performs at Frankie's Jazz.
