On Our Radar: iamforest explores restlessness and loss in new video for "Hollie"

Love of enthusiastic 20-year-olds whose sole dance move is violently pumping their fists, electronic music often gets a bad rap. Look past Top-40 radio edits, though, and you’ll quickly discover that for every mindless electro banger, there’s a piece of music that is, frankly, profound. Local boy iamforest’s “Hollie” sits squarely in the latter category.

As proven by the stunning “Bridges” released in August last year, visuals are where the artist excels. Juxtaposing verdant forest scenes with the minutiae of everyday life—the Skytrain even gets a nod—“Hollie” tells the story of a man searching for an explanation for his wife’s mysterious disappearance. Chasing a faceless woman in a red cardigan, the husband is led deep into the woods, where his recurring dreams blend with his reality.
