There are few people who haven’t heard of Pretty Woman—the 1990 rom-com hit.

This Garry Marshall-directed flick made Julia Roberts a Hollywood A-lister, and landed her with an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.

Judging from its past and present popularity, it should come as no surprise that the film is going to be turned into a Broadway musical.

Pretty Woman: The Musical is currently in production, and Canadian singer-songwriter (and former North Van resident) Bryan Adams and his long-time Vancouver-based songwriting partner Jim Vallance will be producing its score.

Adams has sold more than 75 million records worldwide.

The pair have been musical partners since 1978, and their hit “Summer of 69” reached number 5 on the U.S. Billboard chart in June 1985.

The Pretty Woman musical will makes its Broadway debut in July.
