K-pop star and actor Seo Min-woo (also known as Minwoo) has been reported to have died on March 25 in South Korea.

Seo was the 33-year-old lead vocalist of the boyband 100%.

Management company Top Media issued a statement on March 26 to announce Seo's death, stating that he died of cardiac arrest at his home in the Gangnam district of Seoul. Top Media followed up with a statement issued today (March 27) to thank everyone for their support.

Seo began his career in the entertainment industry as an actor in the TV drama series Sharp 3 in 2006 but later moved into pop music in 2012.

The band, which began with seven members, released several singles in South Korea, such as "Beat", "U Beauty", and "Sketch U".

In 2017, the band entered the Japanese market and had released their third Japanese single, "Song For You", in February of this year.

Seo's death follows only a few months after K-pop fans received news of the demise of another K-pop star.

In December, the death of 27-year-old Kim Jong-hyun of the boyband Shinee drew attention to the intense, relentless, and exhausting pressures that K-pop stars face in an extremely competitive industry.
