Inaugural Vancouver K-pop Con 2018 to feature performers Amber and A.C.E.

      The popularity of the unstoppable Asian music force otherwise known as K-pop continues to expand internationally, and one of the latest indications of that is an upcoming event to that fans can look forward to in Metro Vancouver.

      The Vancouver K-pop Con (VKC) will land in town on May 19 and 20, running from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day at Coquitlam's Hard Rock Casino (2080 United Boulevard).

      The convention is produced by produced by Toronto-based entertainment agency Pop! Goes the World!, which has held the annual Toronto K-pop Con since 2015.

      Two K-pop acts will be performing at VKC's inaugural edition.

      Taiwanese American rapper and singer Amber (or Amber J. Liu) is a member of electro-pop-based K-pop group f(x) but she also released a solo EP, Beautiful, in 2015 and will perform solo in Vancouver at VKC.

      South Korean five-member boyband A.C.E. debuted in 2017 and has released songs such as "Callin'" and "Cactus" (including an English-language version) and will also be featured performers at VKC.

      South Korean violinist Jun Curry Ahn will also perform alongside a mix of Canadian and international talent.

      The two-day event also promises panels, workshops, games, exhibitors and vendors, and more, but full details have not been announced yet.
