The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors the 41st annual Vancouver Folk Music Festival

      From July 13 to 15, the Vancouver Folk Music Festival returns to Jericho Beach Park for its 41st year.

      More than 35,000 music fans are expected to fill the park to enjoy a musically eclectic lineup of over 50 acts from over a dozen countries, playing everything from folk, Americana, bluegrass, and blues to son jarocho, marrabenta, mariachi, Quebecois and Cajun, to Ukrainian folksong and ancient Moravian melody.

      This year's acts include Darlingside, Art Bergmann, Ranky Tanky, Alex Cuba, Neko Case, Ry Cooder (featuring the Hamiltones), Archie Roach, Rodney Crowell, Son de Madera, Dálava, the Dead South, Gordon Grdina’s Haram, Iskwé, James McMurtry, Petunia & the Vipers, Carole Pope, Wazimbo & Banda Kakana, and Donovan Woods.

      An adult all-weekend pass is $170 until July 12, and $185 at the gate. Discounts are available for elders, students, and youth. Children 12 and under are free. Info and tickets available at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival website, or call 604-602-9798.
