Congratulations, we’ve made it! Goodbye “June-uary” and hello summer!

Vancouver really excels at this time of year—a seasonal peak if you will. Two months of uninterrupted sunshine and unadulterated bliss await.

And while we’re on this wave of weather-induced euphoria, let the music rock and the good vibes roll with the very exciting announcement that must-see live act Jon and Roy is coming to the city.

The Victoria-based duo, Jon Middleton and Roy Vizer, are making a special stop in Vancouver while they tour in support of their latest album, The Road Ahead is Golden, on the festival circuit. The pair, who started making music together at university, has become a fan favourite for their folky-reggae acoustic and emotional lyrics.

Jon and Roy will be kicking off an intimate series of performances as part of a pop-up concert series presented by Vancouver Civic Theatres (VCT) in partnership with 102.7 THE PEAK Vancouver’s Modern Rock, and AV Strategies.

And we can hardly contain ourselves because the entire series is absolutely free to attend. Free! So mark your calendars on Friday, July 20; Tuesday, July 31; Tuesday, August 7; and Tuesday, August 21 for four evenings of sunshine, music, and good times. As if we need an excuse to bask in the summer’s glory!

Taking place from 5:30 p.m. on each date, Summer Sounds will bring top music headliners, delicious food trucks, and the always popular patio bar to the heart of Downtown Vancouver at šxʷƛ̓exən Xwtl’a7shn—formerly the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza (630 Hamilton Street). So it’s super convenient to get to by public transit.

Organizers have added some magic and mystery to proceedings by keeping the headliners on each date top secret until an official announcement two weeks prior to each show. But the most eager among you can follow along on social media or listen to 102.7 THE PEAK for clues along the way.
