Twitter users KO Madonna tribute to Aretha Franklin at the VMAs

      In the era of social media, it doesn't take long for the masses to react when they're unimpressed by a celebrity's behaviour.

      And so it went tonight with Madonna's tribute to legendary singer Aretha Franklin at MTV's Video Music Awards (VMAs).

      Most of the criticism focused on Madonna's emphasis on her own struggles as opposed to the accomplishments of the recently deceased Queen of Soul.

      Madonna talked about living in a crackhouse, being mistaken for a prostitute, and facing constant rejection.

      But hey, she's from Detroit, just like Aretha, though this didn't exactly resonate with the folks who were in the Twittersphere tonight.
