Good news today for fans of American guitar legend Dickey Betts.

As previously reported here, the cofounding Allman Brothers Band member suffered a head injury last Monday while playing with his dog in his backyard. He was scheduled for brain surgery today in Sarasota, Florida. And according to Betts' manager, David Spero, the operation went well.

“Dickey Betts and his family want everyone to know that his surgery was a success,” reads a statement sent to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune from Spero. “The outpouring of support from all over the world has been overwhelming and amazing. We are so appreciative. Thank you all so much for your wonderful thoughts and prayers. We will keep you updated.”

It's a beautiful day. I for one am gonna crank "Blue Sky" right now. Stand on it, Dickey!
