The Georgia Straight musical advent calendar for Christmas 2018—Day 21: Nat King Cole
Yesterday was Bing Crosby's "White Christmas", the best-selling singe of all time, and today I bring you the most-performed Christmas song ever.
"The Christmas Song", written by Bob Wells and Mel Tormé, became a signature number for Nat King Cole, who recorded it four times throughout his career—twice in 1946, and once each in 1956 and 1961. The 1961 version is the most widely heard of these...and here it is:
