Willie Nelson offers a soothing and mellow slow-drip alternative to getting blindingly baked at 7 a.m.

As much as everyone loves a good wake and bake, that pastime can lead to a small productivity problem.

Assuming your name isn't Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, or Jeff Spicoli, odds are you start the day with the best intentions to get shit done. Except that 10 minutes after lighting up, you're on the couch exploring the old wild west with a bag of Blazin' Buffalo and Ranch Doritos in one hand, and the Xbox controller in the other.

Famous for being productive while blazed to the knockers, Nelson is nonetheless wise enough at age 86 to realize that sometimes lightweights want the benefits of cannabis without the incapacitating high.

To that end, the country-music legend has just rolled out a brand of hemp-infused coffee as part of his Willie's Remedy line of wellness products. The medium-dark blend is billed as having cherry and cocoa notes, with each cup boasting 7 mg of hemp-derived CDB.

The Willie's Remedy website states that "Whole bean coffee is carefully selected and roasted, then infused with full spectrum hemp extract. The result is a balancing effect to coffee’s natural lift, a perfect harmony of focus from the caffeine plus calm from the cannabis....The proprietary coffee blend is composed of three bean varietals: Castillo, Colombia, and Caturra, and infused with certified organic, full-spectrum hemp oil grown in Colorado."

For those currently failing cannabis studies in community college, government of Canada health officials describe CBD as follows: "Cannabidiol (CBD) is another cannabinoid. Unlike THC, CBD does not produce a high or intoxication. There is some evidence that CBD may block or lower some of the effects of THC on the mind. This may occur when the amount of CBD in the cannabis is the same or higher than the amount of THC. CBD is also being studied for its possible therapeutic uses."

Folks who can't function in the morning until they've had their third cup of coffee and first joint can rest assured that Nelson hasn't abandoned his commitment to the wake and bake club. Cannabis connoisseurs can still partake of his signature Willie's Reserve line of weed, available in Washington State for those willing to make the trip across the border.

A review in The Cannabist of Nelson's Dream Berry Haze strain had the writer smoking and then noting "My brain started going a mile a minute on a Sunday afternoon, suddenly starting graphics work that didn’t need any attention until Monday. As a devout believer in the separation between weekends and weekdays, this is notable."

Double up with a Willie's Remedy coffee, and you'll be guaranteed to get shit done. And by that, we're not talking knocking four chapters off in your quest to finish Red Dead Redemption 2
