Making one wonder what the hell people are thinking, Halsey twerks her butt off in black-leather assless chaps

Here's what the world has come to.

A couple of days ago, Halsey gave fans and freak-flag-flyers around the globe another reason to love her by donning a pair of black leather chaps, accessorizing things with a black cowboy hat and black cowboy boots, and then shaking what the good lord gave her to Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road".

It should be noted that the "Without Me" singer was also wearing some variation of black underwear. That detail is important.

Posting her one-woman dance party to Twitter, Halsey wrote "when someone says “cowboy themed birthday party” and you already own the chaps @LilNasX".

Proving that she's nothing if not refreshingly self-deprecating, the 24-year-old followed that up with the Tweet "Whenever I post videos of me dancing silly, having fun ppl r like “wow! she can’t dance!” Like yes ! Bitch ! I know ! That’s the Joke!"

Anyhow, as promised, Halsey gave it pretty good to "Old Town Road", including twerking like Miley Cyrus never got off the wrecking ball.

But what got all the attention were her chaps.

As any aficionado of cowboy culture knows, chaps are by nature, well, chaps, meant to be pulled over a pair of Levi jeans, leaving the seat of those Levi's exposed to ye old horse saddle.

Every headline written about Halsey's impromptu performance, however, chose to describe the singer as wearing "assless chaps". Which is kind of like saying, if you think about, "pants with legs", or "shoes with soles".

It's obvious what all the above respected news outlets (especially barstoolsport.com!!) were trying to do with their headlines: get the world thinking that, with a simple click of a mouse or the touch of a screen, Halsey's bare-ass, and, um, well you can use your imagination, would be on view.

Sometimes, however, life is something that disappoints.

You can watch Halsey dance in her chaps below. And despair at the fact that, yes, this is what the world has come to, namely an endless series of Internet promises that are never quite delivered on, which doesn't stop you from clicking away in the hopes that, this time, things will be different. Sorry you were disappointed. Again.
