The Burnaby Blues & Roots Festival has come a long way since its inception in 2000.

Back then, it lived up to its name with sets from blues powerhouses like Robert Cray, Jim Byrnes, and Deborah Coleman. This year’s edition features nary a blues act, but does boast the likes of indie-pop stalwart Feist, L.A. folk-rockers Lord Huron, Vancouver singer-songwriter and all-around awesome guy Dan Mangan, Juno-winning country tunesmith William Prince (pictured here), soul duo the War and Treaty, Memphis R&B hotshots Southern Avenue, and Yukon-based riff-rawk freaks Speed Control. Pro tip: bring sunscreen.
