One of the greatest rock 'n' roll documentaries ever shot will be available on Blu-ray for the first time.

Director Taylor Hackford's film Hail! Hail! Rock 'n' Roll, originally released in theatres in 1987, chronicles two 1986 concerts put on to celebrate legendary rocker Chuck Berry's 60th birthday. Keith Richards put the band together, and it was smokin', featuring longtime Berry pianist Johnnie Johnson, drummer Steve Jordan, and bassist Joey Stampinato from NRBQ.

Guests for the gigs included the likes of Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, Linda Ronstadt, Etta James, and Julian Lennon, but just as entertaining as the concerts themselves were the heated rehearsals, with the notoriously prickly Berry getting seriously pissed at Richards when he didn't play the way Chuck wanted him to.

Shout! Factory will release Hail! Hail! Rock 'n' Roll on Blu-ray on November 19. Special features include an intro by Hackford, 54 minutes of rehearsal footage, a making-of documentary, and "The Burnt Scrapbook", in which Berry reminisces over his musical memories with The Band’s Robbie Robertson.
