Barack Obama finished up 2019 by once again showing the world that he's not only the coolest president to have ever sat in the Oval Office, but also a man with impeccable musical taste.
The 44th POTUS wound down the year by revealing what he spent much of the past 12 months listening to.
On December 30 he Tweeted, “From hip-hop to country to The Boss, here are my songs of the year. If you’re looking for something to keep you company on a long drive or help you turn up a workout, I hope there’s a track or two in here that does the trick.”
Head over to Spotify, where he thoughtfully made a playlist for his 111 million Twitter followers, and you'll find an eclectic collection of songs from artists ranging from modern soul queens to hip-hop upstarts to heartland rockers to indie renegades.
Where most people creeping up on 60 don't give a shit about anything but Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles, and Van Morrison, Obama's Best of 2019 list includes everything from Lizzo's "Juice" to the National's "Oblivion" to Big Thief's world-beating "Not" (see above).
You can listen to the list here.
Not to be outdone by a man he sees as unfit to wipe the ass of POTUS 45, Donald Trump released his own Favourite Music of 2019 list on Spotify, his top sing-along songs including Weezer's "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived", Denis Leary's "Asshole", and everything by Ted Nugent, Kid Rock, and Hank Williams Jr.
