Icelandic breakout band KALEO will play UBC's Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre on July 4 as part of the Fight or Flight Tour.

Formed in 2012, the group scored big with its 2016 sophomore outing A/B. Powered by the downtempo alt-ballad "Way Down We Go", the album moved a million copies worldwide. KALEO gained additional traction on this side of the world by landing a Best Rock Performance Grammy nomination for the single "No Good".

The group—featuring singer-guitarist JJ Julius Son, bassist Daniel Kristjansson, drummer David Antonsson, and lead guitarist Rubin Pollock—is currently at work on an A/B follow-up. Fans were given a taste of what's to come this past January when KALEO release two singles from the album: the strings-adorned acoustic meditation "I Want More" and the percussion-heavy psych-tinted "Break My Baby".

Explaining the thinking behind calling the tour Fight or Flight, Julius Son offered the following in a press release: “‘Fight or flight’ speaks to our instinctual response to choices: to stay and fight or to flee. “Throughout the process of making this new album while touring and recording abroad, learning new languages and incorporating sounds from the varying cities I visited, what was most remarkable was seeing first-hand how we are more alike than we are different. This idea to stay, stand our ground and fight for what we believe in keeps resurfacing, and I think as we finish this next record and begin the next chapter, we wanted the fans to know we’re not going anywhere. We’re here with them.”

Presale tickets for the Vancouver show will go on sale on March 5 at 10 a.m. at www.officialkaleo.com. The general public can buy tickets starting at 10 a.m. on March 6.
