The Beatles are the greatest band of all time, and always will be the greatest band of all time.

But that's just my opinion, man.

If you agree, though, you might want to check out a new documentary called The Beatles: Get Back, which is scheduled for release in theatres on September 4.

According to an article just released by Universal Music Group, the film--directed by Peter Jackson of Lord of the Rings fame and distributed by Disney--"is reported to encompass never-before-seen footage and never-before-heard audio."

      That's good enough for me.

"The doc has been compiled from over 55 hours of unseen footage," reads the piece by music writer Tim Peacock on the udiscovermusic.com website, "filmed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg in 1969, and 140 hours of mostly unheard audio recordings from the Let It Be album sessions, as well as the Let It Be movie."

“Working on this project has been a joyous discovery," director Jackson is quoted as saying. "I’ve been privileged to be a fly on the wall while the greatest band of all time works, plays and creates masterpieces. I’m thrilled that Disney have stepped up as our distributor. There’s no one better to have our movie seen by the greatest number of people.”

Surviving Beatles Paul and Ringo have given their thumbs-up to the project.

“I am really happy that Peter has delved into our archives to make a film that shows the truth about the Beatles recording together,” says McCartney. “The friendship and love between us comes over and reminds me of what a crazily beautiful time we had.”
