Devin Townsend wants your help to make a video for his Vengaboys cover, and no, that's not a typo

      He really did it.

Apparently bored beyond belief in COVID-19 self-isolation, Vancouver metal icon Devin Townsend recorded a cover version of the Vengaboys' 1998 Eurodance hit "We Like to Party (The Vengabus)", which has he cheekily retitled "WE LIKE TO PARTY In Isolation".

It's surprisingly faithful to the original, complete with the cheesy synth sounds, but the vocals take it to another level—mostly because they are actually quite good. Anneke Van Giersbergen of the Gathering sings the verses, with Ché Aimee Dorval.

You might come away with the notion that this is something Townsend has been sitting on for years, just waiting for a chance to spring it on an unsuspecting world. A global pandemic is as good an excuse as any, right?

Now, though, Townsend is soliciting fans' help to make a real video for the track (the one above is merely a placeholder), as he explained in a tweet:

In other news, Townsend had been on a major North American tour that kicked off in February and was to have ended with a show in San Francisco on March 25. Due to the pandemic, he was forced to postpone much of the tour. If you would like to help him recoup some of his losses, visit the GoFundMe page here.
