My Favourite Thing: Gay Nineties

My Favourite Thing is a video feature where the Georgia Straight gets interesting folks from around town to list off, among other things, their favourite performers, rituals, live gigs, and singers. And, of course, their favourite thing.

Gay Nineties lead singer and guitarist Parker Bossley caught up The Straight at Exile Bistro earlier this month for My Favourite Thing.

As the frontman of a band named after the 1890's, a time period that inspired high art, scandal, and suffragette movements, Bossley's favourites are similarly aligned.

Following its 2011 EP, Coming Together, Gay Nineties first full-length album, titled Liberal Guilt, was released earlier this year. Loaded with high energy pop-indie tracks produced by Scott Ternan (responsible for 54-40's Northern Soul and Marianna's Trench's Masterpiece Theatre), the record has landed the group on both local and national radio stations. Gay Nineties is currently touring the country, and will be playing at this year's Pemberton Music Festival.
