Fox Cabaret to open its doors on Main Street this weekend
The Fox Cabaret on Main Street is set to open its doors this Friday (February 28).
The Arrival Agency, the operators of the venue and the former team behind the Waldorf Hotel, has been working for the last year to transform what used to be a porn theatre into an "arts and culture cabaret".
Arrival's Danny Fazio said an open house celebration at the music venue this Friday and Saturday will feature DJs, live performance, and visuals.
“We're inviting friends and family down to play some records, perform, and hang out in the cabaret," Fazio said in a press release.
"The idea is to start working in the space to see how it feels with people in it and, of course, have a great time.”
The group is still putting some finishing touches on the venue, including an upstairs cocktail bar that will be completed soon.
"We want to open the space up to the community," said Ernesto Gomez of Arrival. "Our objective with the Fox is to be a central part of the cultural life in Mount Pleasant and in the city of Vancouver as a whole."
The Fox will open to the public on Friday (February 28) and Saturday (March 1) from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Beyond this weekend, the Fox will open on an event-by-event basis, leading up to a "grand opening" in April.

For nostalgic times do they plan to show clips of 70's 80's porn in the background? I think it would add to the coolness of acts there & after all it was a porn theatre.
Oh btw I'M JUST JOKING, it's that some Straight readers take things too serious & can't take jokes.

Yeah, just what this city needs. Another gathering place for pretentious hipsters.
