Good for Grapes takes first place in the 2014 PEAK Performance Project
Good for Grapes has won the top honours in this year’s PEAK Performance Project.
The Surrey folk act takes home the first-place title and a $102,700 prize.
Derrival has earned second place and $75,000, and third-place finalist the Tourist Company takes away $50,000.
The winners were announced at a sold-out event at the Commodore Ballroom Thursday night featuring performances from the top three acts.
Good for Grapes will embark on a Western Canadian tour early next year with the winner of the Alberta PEAK Performance Project, which will be announced on November 27.
The top 12 artists from both provinces had a chance to collaborate at a music boot camp at RockRidge Canyon in Princeton, B.C. during the summer.
Next year will be the final instalment for the B.C. program, which was created by Music BC and 102.7 The PEAK in 2009. The newly launched Alberta program has another six years to go.
Previous B.C. PEAK Performance winners include We Are the City, Kyprios, Current Swell, Dear Rouge, and Rykka.
This is Good for Grapes’ second time participating in the project—the band finished fourth place in the 2013 contest.
