The best Halloween parties inside the downtown core

    1 of 5 2 of 5

As the keener-eyed amongst you may have noticed, Halloween falls on a Monday this year. Which means that, for one week only, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and—if you really dislike your day job—Monday are now all totally viable options to hit the clubs. Luckily, there are plenty of downtown venues willing to indulge your party spirit.

With a number of events running across the entire Halloweekend, there’s plenty of spooky excitement to be found between Drake and Robson. With more venues packed into one square kilometer than you can shake a skeleton at, it’s easy to make the most of all the entertainment on offer by hopping between one club to the next. And make the most of it you must—because it’s going to be a very long time until you can legitimately get that sexy cat outfit out of your tickle trunk again.

      Dead Cowboy Halloween Party

Sunday, October 30 at the Roxy, 932 Granville Street

Death is an occupational hazard when you work as a cowboy, so Stetsons off to the Roxy for coming up with the most true-to-life Halloween theme. Boasting Vancouver’s best country night with performances from the club’s house band, Locked & Loaded, the venue is set to add a little rural flavour to your inner-city Halloweekend club crawl. Plus the Roxy is unique on the Granville strip for having that photo booth, which is primed and ready to capture your beautiful costume before you sweat off all your white facepaint.

      OWN Halloween Massive

Saturday, October 29 at Caprice, 976 Granville Street

It makes sense that one of the city’s largest nightclubs is throwing one of the city’s largest Halloween parties. Caprice is pulling out all the stops this year with two fully decorated rooms and six first-class DJs, and is set to bring party-goers the best in hop-hop, trap, rap, reggae, dancehall, club hits, remixes, and Halloween jams. What about the venue’s trademark EDM, you ask? Well, they’ll be spinning that too. Lucky you.

      Celebrities Playhouse Halloween

Saturday, October 29 at Celebrities, 1022 Davie Street

Celebrities’ long-running Halloween event is back this year with excellent drinks, excellent vibes, and three excellent DJs. With beatmakers Timeline, Yurie, and Grayson Repp slated to play a mix of house anthems and Halloween hits (because, let’s be honest, the “Monster Mash” is always a refreshing break from five hours of back-to-back instrumentals), Celebrities will blast out some of the genre’s top tunes on the best sound system in the downtown core. Plus we’re a little bit obsessed with the Stranger Things-esque flyer.

The Nite Show: Halloween Freak Show

Saturday, October 29 at Venue, 881 Granville Street

Need a break from EDM bangers? With a unique event inspired by the hit TV series American Horror Story: Freak Show, Venue is offering the perfect Halloween-themed respite. For one night only, the club will showcase up-close-and-personal performances from The Underground Circus—a troupe that specializes in aerial stunts, body contortions, and being as close to freaks as modern-day political correctness will rightly allow. Promising to offer “a plethora of the strange, the weird, the bizarre, and the unusual” (we’re just excited that they used the word “plethora”), Venue’s booking will provide a more nuanced Halloween experience than jumping around in a sweaty room all night. Not that we’re judging.
