One of Asia’s most popular singers was in town over the weekend, and those who got their hands on a ticket to her charity concerts were in for a treat.

Hong Kong Canto-pop vocalist Frances Yip staged two performances in Metro Vancouver (Richmond and Coquitlam), and helped raise $200,000 for S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation—a social services organization that provides support and programs to new immigrants and the Chinese community.

Yip performed her hit songs in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin for over 1,800 fans. She gained international fame with her signature song “The Bund” from the TVB (a Hong Kong television broadcaster) drama of the same title.

This was her sixth charity engagement with the charitable foundation; music composer and producer Richard Yuen acted as the music director of the two concerts.

“Fundraising is an integral part of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation’s mandate. Proceeds from events such as these two charity concerts can enhance S.U.C.C.E.S.S.’s ability to deliver the highest caliber of services to those otherwise would be underserved in Metro Vancouver,” said Sing Lim Yeo, Chair of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation, in a press statement.
