On Our Radar: TrailerHawk prolongs a magical summer with sunsoaked video for "Don't You"

As much as Vancouverites like to complain about, well, everything, the general consensus was that this past summer was a pretty goddamn great one. Sure, half the province caught on fire, and there were days when the sun in Vancouver glowed redder than Mars, but at least it didn’t rain four days out of seven.

So with the moonsoons on the horizon, who can blame us for wanting to prolong the magic?

Here’s our suggestion this Sunday morning: pop open a Lone Star beer, fire up a Marlboro, and then hit play on TrailerHawk’s “Don’t You”. For four minutes and 22 seconds you’ll lose yourself in a world of bustling summer railyards and sunsoaked West Coast afternoons.

Trailerhawk calls Vancouver home, but the band sounds like it’s got more than a passing affection for classic ‘80s-vintage cowpunk—think the Long Ryders, Knitters, Rank and File, and Gun Club. The big difference being that none of those bands has a singer as sultry-voiced as Carmen Bruno, who sounds like she fucking means it when she drawls “Don’t you. don’t get in my way when I’m moving on.”
