Bummed about Drake's Rogers show being bumped to Wednesday? It might be part of God’s plan
Assuming you didn’t fly in from the Yukon with a hotel reservation at the Pan Pacific, news that Drake’s Monday night's concert at Rogers Arena has been moved to Wednesday might be good news.
You’ve now got an additional day to psyche yourself up for the West Coast return of Aubrey Drake Graham.
That means another 24 hours of lying in bed drinking Tahiti Treat while watching his insanely great interview with Bobbi Althoff, obsessively studying Pulp Fiction to play connect-the-dots with “Hotline Bling”, or aimlessly strolling the seawall in the hope Drake will show up with a fat stack of cash for an impromptu sequel to the video for “God’s Plan”.

Fans got the news just hours before the show that the Toronto rapper’s Monday night stand had been cancelled, the concert then rescheduled for Wednesday. All tickets for the original show will be honoured for the new date. Canucks Sports and Entertainment, which runs the hockey arena in downtown Vancouver, cited “unforeseen circumstances” tied into the installation of a new scoreboard.
Some fans were lined up outside the venue for the concert when the news started to break on social media.
“Drake was ready and excited to perform,” read the post on the Rogers Arena Instagram account. “He is looking forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday and Wednesday. Rogers Arena apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.”
Potential inconveniences, of course, might include the fact that you asked for Monday night off at work back in April, and now you have to find someone to cover for you on Wednesday. Or that you flew in from Moose Jaw, and now need to find the money to front another night at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, not to mention having to beg WestJet to let you change your return flight with no penalty.
Good luck. And don’t forget to tell yourself it’s all part of God’s plan.
