Jazz festivals across Canada are joining forces to show COVID-hit jazz fans some virtual love next month.
From November 8 to 15 there will be online jazz performances emanating from Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Niagara, Sudbury, Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Medicine Hat, Calgary, Fort Langley, Vancouver, and Victoria.
“During times when we aren’t able to gather to enjoy live music, it’s good to know there are still options to present jazz music to Canadians,” says festival organizer and Calgary JazzYYC artistic director Kodi Hutchinson in a press release.
Highlights include the Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival performances by Sister Jazz Orchestra and Mimosa on November 9 at 7 pm; the TD Victoria International Jazz Fest performance by Michael Kaeshammer on November 10 at 7 pm; and the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival presentation of the Laila Biali Trio, streamed live from Frankie's Jazz on November 11 at 7 pm.
