Experimental artist and “queer DIY punk” Devours has announced a release party at the Biltmore Cabaret for their forthcoming album, Homecoming Queen. The show takes place on May 18, with support from Non La and Grimm.

Last week, Devours—the electro-pop-rock project of the talented Jeff Cancade, who is also behind The Golden Age of Wrestling and owns the label Surviving the Game—shared a taste of what’s to come with “Jacuzzi My Stonewall,” a new single off his upcoming effort. The song layers ‘90s dance beats with a sparkling pop melody and intricate, synth-infused vocals.

“Beyond the playful jabs at contemporary gay culture, this song is about survivor’s guilt, and the lack of empathy between generations,” Devours wrote about “Jacuzzi My Stonewall” in an Instagram post.

An accompanying music video is set to premiere soon. Devours’ last album, Escape from Planet Devours, was released in 2021 to critical acclaim from outlets like Exclaim! and DOMINIONATED.

Also, in case you missed it, we spoke with Cancade earlier this year about the state of Vancouver’s local music scene. Listen to "Jacuzzi My Stonewall" below.
