Indigifest 2021 celebrates Indigenous music in B.C.

      The First Peoples’ Cultural Council has just announced that it will host Indigifest 2021 every Thursday in August.

      A free celebration of Indigenous music, arts, and culture from across B.C., the online event will take place at 7 p.m.

      “Designed, produced and performed by Indigenous people, I’m so proud to support this initiative through the B.C. Arts Council and Creative B.C.," says Melanie Mark, minister of tourism, arts, culture and sport, in a press release. "This year’s line-up looks amazing and I encourage everyone to tune in to this free online festival."

      The full Indigifest schedule: 

           * August 5: Shawn Bullshields, Quinn Pickering, Nathaniel White, and The Spiritual Warriors, hosted by Elaine Bomberry & Xwechtaal Dennis Joseph.

           * August 12: Saltwater Hank, Jodie B, Hasaatuk, and Big Willie G, hosted by Jason Camp and the Posers.

           * August 19: Candace Curr, Meeka Morgan, Myc Sharratt, Bobby Garcia, Michelle Heyóka, and Lorissa Scriven, hosted by Rob Thomson.

           * August 26: Jason Camp and the Posers, Quanah Style, JJ Lavallee, MzShellz, Mr ClassiK and Darius McCook, hosted by Nimkish Youngining.
