Justin Bieber has a serious medical condition that caused him to cancel three shows on his current Justice World Tour.

The Canadian pop star disclosed that he is suffering from temporary paralysis on the right side of his face after being diagnosed with Ramsey Hunt syndrome.

He said that doctors believe it's due to a virus that attacked a nerve in his ear. The syndrome is named after a doctor who discovered it in 1907. It's caused by the same virus that triggers checkpox in children and shingles in adults.

Bieber's right eye did not blink in an Instagram post in which he described his predicament.

"I can't smile with this side of my face; this nostril will not move, so there is full paralysis to this side of my face," he stated.

Bieber suggested that his current medical problem is a sign that his body is telling him to slow down.

"I got to get my rest on so that I can get my face back to where it's supposed to be," he said.
