In case you’d heard that the indefatigable Mr. Chi Pig was laid up in a Saskatoon hospital with pneumonia recently, rest assured that Saturday’s (August 13) SNFU show at Punky Thrasherbalts will go on. “He was in the hospital for three days,” booker wendythirteen told the Straight. “They had him on an IV with antibiotics. And nutrition,” she added with a chuckle. “He’s not the healthiest cat out there, for sure.”

The band was on a mini-tour of the Prairies and West Coast in late July when the vocalist became ill, losing, amazingly, only two shows in the process. “Luckily [bassist Just] Denis’s parents live out there so they crashed while they waited for him to get out of hospital, and then they flew him back,” wendythirteen said.

All good news, but is Pig really going to be able to hack it on the weekend after such a serious health issue? “He’s recovering, and I’m confident he can still perform,” wendythirteen reckoned, adding that Pig was out doing karaoke on Sunday night. “Nothing’s gonna stop him.”
