Just Announced: Mt. Joy coming to Vancouver next summer

Riding a hot streak with a sound once described as both amiable and soaring, breakthrough Philadelphia indie rockers Mt. Joy are headed to Vancouver next summer. The quintet plays Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre on August 17, 2024.

First making waves with a self-titled debut in 2018, Mt. Joy has slowly blown up into a band that suggests someone out there still cares about artists with a thing for guitars. As 2022’s Orange Blood began to hit with singles like “Lemon Tree”, “Bathroom Light”, and “Evergreen”, singer Matt Quinn and co. went from opening for the Lumineers and Greta Van Fleet to headlining their own shows.

Major triumphs this year have included selling out the fabled Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado and the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Included in next year’s dates will be a fall headlining show at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden.

And in case all that isn’t reason enough to love Mt. Joy, consider that the group has donated to everything from voter registration initiatives to nonprofits dedicated to ending police violence.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday (November 10) at 10am. You can also watch for a new album in 2024. And don’t forget to encourage your favourite American friend, relative, or pen pal to spin the band’s “New President” at least once a month over the next year because, man, the last thing the world needs is the old Mr. Orange president back in the White House.
