Toronto poet and songwriter Mustafa has released a music video of a song from his upcoming full-length album, When Smoke Rises.

The deeply spiritual "Ali" opens with the sounds of a guitar punctuated by Mustafa's soaring voice.

In Islam, Ali ibn Abi Talib was the son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad. He was the fourth caliph and is seen by Shia Muslims as his rightful successor.

Mustafa was raised in Toronto and has written for the Weeknd and Usher. "Ali" is the third song that's been released from When Smoke Rises.
