Vancouver-raised, Toronto-based alt-country singer-songwriter Oh Susanna (aka Suzie Ungerleider) will headline the virtual concert I Hate Valentine's Day this Saturday (February 13).
Also on the bill are Vancouver musician Veda Hille--well known for her work as a composer and performer on local theatrical productions like East Van Panto and A Craigslist Cantata--as well as Canadian singer-songwriters Sarah MacDougall and Mariel Buckley and spoken-word artist/storyteller Ivan Coyote.
"Remember the trauma of looking in your little paper pouch and finding a few piddly Valentines?," reads the event info on the Oh Susanna Facebook page. "Ever broken up on the day of love? Does your partner think an earthquake kit is a romantic gift? Do you hate Hallmark for making you feel so alone on a day made for fake fairy tale endings? Come join us on the day before Valentine's Day to express our penchant for heartache and woe and a more authentic celebration of love."
I Hate Valentine's Day is being produced via Side Door Access and kicks off at 7 pm Pacific time.
Tickets are priced at $21 (plus fees and taxes) and you can find them here.
