What’s In Your Fridge is where the Straight asks interesting Vancouverites about their life-changing concerts, favourite albums, and, most importantly, what’s sitting beside the Heinz ketchup in their custom-made Big Chill Retropolitan 20.6-cubic-foot refrigerators.

Who are you
I’ve been a singer/songwriter for as long as I can remember! I grew up in Canada, and I’ve been in Nashville for about 7 years now; I absolutely love everything about this town. I grew up listening to country music, so it will always be a huge part of my life, but I listen to everything! And now my music is leaning a little more pop than I thought it would. I love music, people, family and mostly...potato chips. (Kidding, kind of.)
My first concert was actually the Backstreet Boys. I was eight, and it was the first time I thought I was in love—with Nick Carter to be exact. This moment came full circle for me in 2019 when I saw their reunion tour and met them all. All of the sudden it was 1998 and I was in love all over again. My first country concert was Tim McGraw and Faith Hill on their first Soul 2 soul tour. It was EPIC.
I feel like I’ve been lucky enough to see a lot of these. Coldplay has got to be up there. In around... 2012 I saw the Dixie Chicks (now, the Chicks), play at Blues Fest in Ottawa, Canada. It was the first time they had played live since the whole radio blacklisting situation. They closed with “Not Ready to Make Nice” and I sobbed. It was definitely one of the most powerful moments I’ve seen in live music.
Top three records
This is an impossible question!!! But I’m going to try...
Alanis Morissette Jagged Little Pill I grew up on this...I used to borrow the tape from my sister’s room all the time.
Cam Untamed I have listened to this front to back about 100 times.
Neil Young Harvest Moon Because it was the first tape I ever owned. And it makes me feel all kinds of nostalgic.
All-time favourite video
Whitney Houston “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” Again, such a difficult one! I was a dancer growing up, so I’m inclined to say anything Michael Jackson. But I think “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”—Whitney Houston. ‘Cause how can you not be happy listening to and watching that?
What’s in your fridge
Four jars of pickles. My boyfriend and I reallllly like pickles. I especially like pickle juice in my Bloody Marys. (Or Ceasars if I have access to them.)
Under-eye patches. These are by no means food, but they are little jelly patches that go under your eyes. May be kind of weird that they are in my fridge, but they feel extra amazing when they get cold!
A ton of tomatoes. Always. I could eat tomatoes for every meal. When I was little I used to sit at the table with my Nana and eat them like apples, pouring salt and pepper on between each bite.
