One of East Vancouver’s most cherished venues is in danger of closing its doors. The WISE Hall—an important hub of live music and community—is asking Vancouverites for help to keep the lights on.

“Time is running out for one of East Vancouver’s last cultural keystones. The WISE Hall, a cherished arts and community hub, urgently needs your help to survive,” the WISE Hall writes in an Instagram post. “For years, we’ve been a home for vibrant discussions, artistic creativity, and community building. Now, we face the real threat of closing our doors forever. This is a critical moment, and every second counts. We need your immediate support to keep the spirit of East Van alive and thriving.”

The venue cites the pandemic and “ongoing financial pressures” as reasons why it’s at risk of shuttering.

To keep it operational, the Wise has set up a fundraising and membership drive with the goal of raising $700,000 and gaining 500 new members. Memberships are $10 per year; one-off donations can also be made. See more details here.
