The spokesperson for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says it's possible that a missing Surrey woman could have been the victim of foul play.

Cpl. Frank Jang said in a news release that officers "have conducted an extensive investigation" to find San Li Liao.

Her family reported her missing to Surrey RCMP on May 29.

An investigation has led police to conclude that Liao has been killed, which is why the case has been turned over to IHIT.

"There have been no other cases like Ms. Liao’s that have been reported to the police," Jang said, "and investigators continue to pursue leads that may answer the many questions remaining.”

Liao was last seen on May 26 in the 14900 block of 54A Avenue.

Her green Toyota Sienna vehicle was found at the Guildford Recreation Centre on May 29.

San Li Liao was driving a green Toyota Sienna when she went missing in May.
