A power outage at Sasquatch Mountain Resort caused more than 100 skiers and snowboarders to be trapped for up to three hours.

They've since been rescued but it created tense moments when the chairlift stopped operating at 9:40 a.m.

"This couldn't be worse timing for us during our peak period and we apologize for the inconvenience," the resort said on its Facebook page. "Thanks to everyone for your understanding and patience. We are doing all we can to have everything back up and running as soon as possible!"

The Sasquatch chair "will be closed until further notice".

Sasquatch Mountain Resort used to be known as Hemlock Resort before its name was changed earlier this year.

It's just north of Chillwack in the eastern Fraser Valley, which has been hit hard by power outages over the past three days.
