The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is on the scene in the 6500 block of Telford Avenue.

This comes after a man died in that location after Burnaby RCMP responded to a call last night just before 9 p.m. about a fight in progress.

The adult male was in "medical distress", according to an RCMP news release, and the person did not survive despite efforts to revive him.

"It is early in the investigation but it does not appear to be a random act," the news release states.

No names have been released.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has identified the murder victim as 47-year-old Jwada Hedar-Kadhim of Burnaby.
