Charges have been laid in relation to two bank robberies that occurred in Vancouver over the weekend (February 3).

According to a Vancouver Police Department (VPD) media release, 23-year-old Jordan Doddridge was apprehended shortly after two incidents were reported to police. The first, just after 1 p. m., concerned a bank on Commercial Drive at 1st Avenue. The second, about 30 minutes later, was at another bank, this one at Commercial Drive and Broadway.

After the second robbery, Doddridge appeared to have been fleeing the scene with a female passenger when he was involved in a car accident.

“The suspects were driving a stolen Porsche Cayenne when the crash occurred at the intersection of Clark Drive and East 1st Avenue just minutes after the second robbery,” reads another VPD media release. “Two police vehicles were able to block the Cayenne to prevent escape and officers arrested the man and woman inside.

“A total of four vehicles with innocent civilians were involved in the collision. Four occupants of one vehicle were taken to hospital with what is believed to be minor injuries.

One of the victims’ injuries was later updated to serious but non-life-threatening.

Doddridge remains in custody and now faces two counts of robbery. The VPD has also recommended charges against his female passenger, whose name has not yet been released.
