Coquitlam resident dies in hospital following altercation in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside

      Vancouver police have revealed that a man has not survived injuries sustained nearly a week ago in front of the Astoria Hotel.

      On February 6 at around 11:30 p.m., Martin James McDonald was found unconscious at a bus stop outside the Downtown Eastside establishment at 769 East Hastings Street.

      The 51-year-old was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

      The Coquitlam resident died on February 10.

      According to the VPD, he had been in a "physical altercation" before being discovered.

      A 42-year-old man was arrested at the time but was released as the investigation continued.
