TransLink issued the following statement at 5 p.m. today regarding bus service in Metro Vancouver:

The current storm continues to impact transit service across the region causing significant delays for bus service.

We encourage our customers to dress warm, have good footwear, give themselves extra time before and consult our transit alerts before heading out.

Following is an update of the status of TransLink service:

      Bus:

      • Buses on many routes across the region are running late due to road conditions.
      • Snow socks have been installed and are in use on the 5 buses serving SFU bus loop.
      • No bus service in West Vancouver north of Marine Drive.

      Sea Bus:

      • No reported issues.

      SkyTrain:

      • SkyTrain attendants are staffing all trains, to watch for track intrusions. During times of severe storms, clumps of snow can trigger intrusion alarms and stop trains. Staffing trains allows us to turn off track intrusion alarms as required and prevent delays.

      Canada Line:

      • Normal service.
      • An earlier issue with a compressor on a Canada Line train has been resolved. The issue was not related to snow.

      West Coast Express:

      • Regular service.

      HandyDART:

      • Operating essential service only all areas (renal dialysis/cancer treatment appointments only). HandyDART will continue to operate at essential service levels tomorrow as well.
