The B.C. RCMP are urging women to report if they have received threatening calls.

According to the RCMP, a man has been calling women across the Lower Mainland, demanding that they engage him in sexually explicit conversation.

The RCMP stated in a news release Wednesday (February 28) that the caller would tell the women that he would harm a member of their family if they refuse.

The RCMP noted that the calls began last year.

According to the RCMP, the caller has falsely claimed that he has installed cameras at the homes of the women.

Some of the calls were made to women at their places of work.

Police are also encouraging women who may get such a call to hang up immediately.
