An investigation is underway after a teenager who rented a North Shore home held a massive party there that resulted in thousands of dollars worth of damage.

After 8:30 p.m. on March 9, the West Vancouver Police Department responded to numerous calls about a large-scale disturbance at a residence in the 2400 block of Ottawa Avenue.

When officers arrived in the upscale neighbourhood, they discovered about 200 teenagers swarming out of the house.

They located a 14-year-old girl who they learned had rented the home online by using her parent's credit card without permission. Police were informed that the party had mushroomed far beyond its intended size.

The house was extensively damaged, including walls, furniture, and artwork destroyed, to an estimated amount of $20,000.

Police stated that none of the attendees were injured or in need of medical attention.

The teenager who organized the party is accepting financial responsibility for the damages. The homeowner is not seeking criminal charges against the teenager or her family.

However, investigators are seeking to identify individuals who damaged the residence. Anyone who has knowledge of someone responsible for causing damage is asked to call 604-925-7300.
