The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) announced that today (April 26) around 1:30 a.m., a 38-year-old Vancouver man was found suffering from serious injuries in Yaletown outside Parq Casino (at 39 Smithe Street).

He was rushed to hospital where surgery was performed on him but he succumbed to his injuries. His death marks the city's eighth homicide of 2018.

The VPD stated that investigators have traced evidence back to Coopers Park near Marinaside Crescent and Cooperage Way, near the Cambie Street Bridge on the north side of False Creek, where they suspect the victim was assaulted before he sought help by walking toward the casino.

No arrests have been made yet.

Anyone who witnessed or has information about this incident is asked to contact the VPD at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
