Three people are in stable condition in hospital and another 12 have minor injuries after a bomb was set off inside an Indian restaurant in Mississauga, Ontario, last night.

This morning, Peel Regional Police Chief Jennifer Evans told reporters there's no indication that this was an act of terrorism or a hate crime.

It occurred around 10:30 p.m. Eastern daylight time in Bombay Bhel, which is not far from the corner of Hurontario Street and Eglington Avenue West.

At the time two groups were celebrating birthdays inside the restaurant, according to police.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and to their families. We know this is an extremely difficult time for them,” Evans said. “I want the community to know that every available police resource is being used to locate the people responsible for this horrendous act."

Police are searching for two men in hoodies, who were filmed on a security camera entering the premises.

One is described at 5'10" to 6'0" with a stocky build in his mid 20s, wearing dark blue jeans and a baseball hat with a light grey peak.

The second is 5'9" to 5'10" with fair skin, a thin build, and wearing faded blue jeans and dark skate shoes.

Both men had their face covered with dark material.

The restaurant chain issued the following statement on its Facebook page:

"It was an extremely horrific and sad incident that happened at our Hwy 10 location yesterday evening. We want to thank you for all of your support and well wishes, especially to the families that were affected. At this time, the police are undergoing a full investigation to ensure the individuals are apprehended."
