TransLink animated video simulates light rail route from Guildford to Newton, via Surrey Centre

      And the scenery shows virtually no cars.

      Can TransLink possibly be depicting Surrey?

      It's a new animated video simulating street-level light rail that's going to be built along 104 Avenue from Guildford to Surrey Centre, and then down King George Highway to Newton Exchange.

      Watch TransLink's new video, which has been released in advance of three open houses in Surrey.

      It's been dubbed the "Surrey-Newton-Guildford Light Rail Project" and it's expected to cost $1.65 billion, according to TransLink.

      TransLink is hosting open houses at the following times and locations for people interested in learning more:

      * Surrey City Hall (13450 104 Avenue) from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday (May 31);

      * Peoples Church (14455 104 Avenue) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday (June 2);

      * Surrey Arts Centre (13750 88 Avenue) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. next Tuesday (June 5).
